Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are traditionally extensive, paper-based documents which are created, maintained and used by various different people together. Defining SOPs is a costly exercise. The usability of SOPs in their paper-based format is limited as there is no way to prepare and present them in a user-specific manner. In a decentralized competence network especially with its various different partners there is a need for computer-based SOP management with decentralized editing, centralized administration and user-specific provision. Objectives and requirements of computer-based SOP support are as follows:
- Administration of SOPs and related documents
- Reusability in other reference systems (e.g. Data Dictionary)
- Uncovering and removing contradictions
- Expandability with SOP sub-groups
- Adequate presentation of SOPs for different user groups, quality-grading and reference sys-tems using different levels of detail
- Graphical presentation of SOP structures
- Support for the generation of new SOPs
A short overview of the SOP-Creator you will find in the presentation sheet of SOP-Creator.
